@end/ scenes is a reserved folder. These scenes are the end of your game and will go to the @credits when the end scene ends.

Using @end/  as a folder of scenes allows you to write multiple endings for your story.

Scenes are made up of components. This is a Dialog component, above we saw a Title component, and before that a Continue component.

And now were done, put your name (and any other writer's name) in the credits and be sure to credit any artists or musicians that contributed too!

Thank you for eating steak like a normal customer.

Conditions are a great way to redirect story flow based on a character's past. We can check if they have an item, a status effect, or has experienced a story event. We can also count uses of an item, compare instances of an item, check if a quest has been started, and more!

For example, if you chose to throw the knife in the last scene, in this scene the waiter will call the police.

Now a simple choice has led to 4 different outcomes based on the player's luck.

We were told to expect you, one of everything, coming right up.

I can do that, but keep your voice down.

Sometimes, we might want the choices to be more risky . To do that, we have the user roll dice to determine the outcome.

I'd like to order off menu. Bring me a dolphin ceviche.

I want one of everything, and I'd like it for free. The chef owes me a favor.

And that's it. We gave our player a choice to make, and responded to their choices.

Wake is a choice driven storytelling platform. So let's give our players some choices to make.

The @start Scene

The @start scene is the first scene in the game. 
This is best used to start the background music, set a background image, and give backstory.

This is the @intro scene, which plays before the game starts. Think of it as a title slide. It's a great place to configure the starting color palette and start any music.

@intro scenes end with an end component and are not allowed to reference other scenes.

These options only become available when a player has the item specified.
This is useful for keys to locked rooms, or quest items a player has to go retrieve.

The player can then see the `KNIFE` in their inventory. 

Now we can define an Action, and the player will be able to use the knife in any Choice in the scene where the Action is defined.

Sometimes we might want to give the player something to hold on to. To do that, we Apply an inventory-item.

The `KNIFE` cuts through the steak easily.

Status effects can help or hinder a player's roll.

I'm sorry, can we get an update on our food, it's taking a while.

Sometimes we might want to hurt or help our player's chances of succeeding in a roll.
To do that, we can apply a status effect.

It'll come out when it comes out, calm down.

It looks like they're putting it up right now, I'll bring it over.

Return scenes act like miniature segments of scenes, returning you to the flow in which you left.

We will enter a return scene now.

This is in the return scene, and can be used multiple times.

This is useful for when you want to use the same audio, background, and color configuration for multiple scenes in the same setting. Or if you want to describe how it feels to receive a status effect the same way each time, you can apply it in a return scene.
